ali-s
We are looking into buying one and I would like to know if they are hard work, easy to cook on etc. would you recomend one? We (mostly me) would like to get away from relying on electricity. We seem to be getting power cuts more frequently here there is no mains Gas and Andy doesn't want oil. A trip to the AGA shop a few weeks ago revealed a price tag of nearly £9000 for a rayburn which cooks, heats water and runs a few radiators, Andy nearly fainted I have found a company in Hereford ( why do I choose to live at the end of the world ) which sell reconditioned Rayburns at a more reasonable price www.countrystyle-cookers.com If any of the Scottish folks here know of a more local company ( anywhere in Scotland would be classed as local) which sell reconditioned Rayburns please let me know. A google search for Scottish companies came up with a big fat zero.

Chicken Licken
I have a rayburn regent (about 50 yrs old) and it works a treat. Ithas been comprehensively rebuilt by this man: http://www.solidfuelboilers.co.uk/html/for_sale.html I know he is a long way from Scotland but he does say he travels nationally so may be of use. Good luck with it all
