Gelbel
How embarrassing - I sold the idea of a lovely egg ever day or so to the people who looked after my girls when we were away. Grace laid on day 1 then has not since (given the bullying she started just when the weather turned at the beginning of the month perhaps this was due to hormonal changes). Rita did her first ever egg (for sure as she now crouches like a text book case and it was bigger and a totally different brown offers to Grace's) yesterday - our first day home. Our hen sitter was telling us how he ended up letting them FR for an hour each day (even though Rita escaped into the mill's grounds next door the 1st time he let them out - she's never escaped from me; I'll have to keep an eye on that). He was also saying how he was not sure about them at first but is now totally besotted with them. This from a giant of a man of few words who is as hard as nails. Ain't Nobody Here
Funny how fluffy little chickens can win over most men . We had that the last time my friend looked after my girls . They'd just started laying but didn't lay a single egg for her . She's coming to look after them again soon so I've had a word with all the girls . Hen Watch
My hens go on strike too when I go away on holiday and my poor hen sitter hardly gets anything.
Gelbel
Bless - said hen sitter came round yesterday afternoon to see, "if everything was OK with the girls".

Janty
I have been chicken sitting for a week now and the two hens have only laid three eggs all week between them. Their Mummy and Daddy are home next week so they will be happy again soon...although they have come from a small coop to five star luxury eglu (fussy madams).
