CrazyDaizy
Hia Folks We've only had Cilla and Daisy almost 3 months and it feels like we've had them forever They have bought our garden to life, especially during these cold winter months when we would otherwise not venture into the garden Our only "problem" is the wooden rack inside the Eglu I find it very difficult to keep clean I have read some of the other posts about how to keep it clean, and others have two sets of wooden racks to use. Good idea..... does Omlet sell the wooden racks separately? If so, how much?
Nicola H
Hi Crazy Daisy, I don't think the chickens mind dirty roosting bars I use an old s"Ooops, word censored!"er to knock the poo off them in the morning and only give them a wash every now and then. Check out this link to see how much new ones cost......Roosting bars
Cinnamon
Hi Omlet do sell spare roosting bars & a spare set is almose essential I would say Some of us have recently sprayed a new set with a plasicizing spray, which coats them in a very thing rubbery layer - making them MUCH easier to clean. I will try to find the relevant thread about it....hold on a mo
Cinnamon
I cannot seem to get a link to work, but if you scroll down on the Eglu page there are 2 threads - one about rubberized roosting bars & another updating the info. Hope this helps.

CrazyDaizy
Hey thanx that's very useful!!! But isnt it better for the birds' feet to have natural wood under their feet rather than this "rubberised" thing?
Charlottechicken
Make your own bars! See my thread here
theherd123
I use a wallpaper s"Ooops, word censored!"er to get the pooh off and then spray them with a homemade mix of Ecover washing up liquid, tea tree oil and water - this stays on until i have cleaned the rest of the eglu then i give them a good clean with very hot soapy water. Egluntyne
Leaving them out in the rain does the trick, I find!

Mel (& Paul)
I only use one thing to keep the eglus clean His name's Paul We have two sets of roosting bars which are a godsend if you are cleaning the eglus out in the pouring rain (so Paul tells me.........) as you can change them over quickly, leave the dirty ones out and come inside for a nice cup of tea

PurpleHen
Mine get an occasional hosing down if I'm feeling energetic..... I do this occasionally - then when it's time for a spring clean I get the pressure washer on them and come up a treat
Mel (& Paul)
Just watch out for back spray - make sure your mouth is closed
chelsea
I would also say that a spare set is an "essential" ! Eglu cleaning day here is Friday, and I always clean 1 set with ecover and blast off with the hose - and then put them in the garage, then change over with the spare set awaiting in the garage - so I always have a clean set of bars to hand. easy peasy
