Leicester_H
Normally I don't read these sorts of articles as they are too upsetting, but I got caught out by this one. Don't read it if you are (easily) upset by animal cruelty http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cambridgeshire/8329496.stm The only 'comfort' is that it "died almost instantly" H
WarrensWorld
I'd like to say what I really feel about this, but I'd be moderated big time. Just makes you wonder what SCUM are walking the streets...................

Falkor
This park is within walking distance of my house! I feel sick with rage! As said before at least the little one died almost instantly. RIP little one. xx

Joojoo
I can't even read it though I did see the headline earlier. It just makes me want to cry and I don't think any comments I would make are suitable for this forum
majorbloodnock
In his autobiography "Dear Me", Peter Ustinov described an episode when he was a child. It seems he and his family were eating outside, and became plagued with flies. Young Peter was handed a fly swat and told to get on with it, which he did with steadily increasing relish. At the point he was getting really good at it, the swat was taken away again, and he asked why. The reply was, "because you're starting to enjoy it". That pretty much sums up my feelings about violence. The perpetrators in this instance have certainly destroyed a perfectly healthy animal, and upset a peaceable and loving family, but both those would have happened even if it were an accident. IMHO, the real damage - indeed, the real tragedy - is what they have done to themselves. They've belittled their compassion, ignored their instincts of right and wrong, and desensitised themselves. In short, they've reduced their humanity, and therefore their value to our society. And I have little doubt they don't even realise they've harmed themselves. I know some of you will read this and start thinking I'm becoming profound again, but despite the puppy's fate, I do believe that's only part of the loss here. Guest
Havent read it but I do think there are genuinely evil people in this world but also think that they will get their come upance(or I very much hope they do). Whoever did it should be paraded and humiliated and disgraced. No excuse to behave like this in our so called civilised society, I am not always convinced a deterrent exists these days at all? Someone will come up with some phony excuse for these horrid person How sad, makes me mad, indie
Leicester_H
Dear majorbloodnock, I have read your message with interest - and won't comment for now -but it is certianly food for thought. The News article is thin -its not an excuse but some people are scared of dogs - its seems that one kick killed the dog - it may not have been as malicious as the headline invited us to believe. I feel sorry for the young girl who lost her per/friend. H
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Major you sage, you. Totally agree. I'm not surprised by this story. If people can kick each other to death, a puppy is sadly easy in comparison and good practice for the sons and daughters who'll cop a rain of kicks or worse from the perpetrators later. I'd like to think it's just wrong 'uns who do this, but it's not. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/food_and_drink/eating_out/a_a_gill/article6882183.ece "So, I said, why not? Just a little one. I can handle it; I’ll be a recreational primate killer."
kitbag
I just don't understand how or why people do this kind of thing. It's sick.
sparkysmum
It's just dreadful , sickening & mindless. Even worse it doesn't always end there. The RSPCA & SSPCA have shown that peiple who are abusive to animals frequently go on to abuse partners in adulthood.
