docsquid
I had a personal training client to see this morning, but when I got back, I cleaned out the nest box (they are sleeping there at the moment), and checked their food and water. Then I had a shower. When I went out again they were Bwerk-bok-bok-ing to be let out, and the weather was finally clearing, so I did let them out. They burst out like released prisoners! And 20 minutes later when I checked for them? They were back in the run all cuddled up together sunbathing! What a lot of fuss and Bwerk-bok-ing for nothing! Perverse creatures. And now I think they just want to be let into the house instead - Gwennie has flown up onto the bin to see what I am doing in the kitchen (making candles, actually) and Blodwyn is trying to get through the cat flap! Do yours ever do anything perverse like this?
Lavenders_Blue
Yes - all the time! My girls pace the run, all squashing up against the door when I am out in the garden to make me feel guilty. As soon as I let them out they belt round the garden for a couple of minutes before they head back to the run and their food. I get the feeling it's not so much that they want to be out, it's the principle that they should be able to go out in the garden if they so wish... which they mostly don't
Ain't Nobody Here
Yup, mine do that all the time . I'm quite glad really, as I don't need to feel guilty leaving them in the run .
docsquid
I thought as much! Yours sound just like mine. It is the principle of being able to go where they want, even though where they want is in the run!
sjp
you've all describe mine to a tee go made to get out then stand around preening or trying to get trod on so you put them back in the run then they screem blue murder
Faye&Ant
yep mine are exactly the same, I have to run between the windows and doors at the back in fear of them seeing me. They run up and down by the run door to be let out to only last 5 minutes and all go and huddle on their bench in the run again only this time of year though, they stay out in the summer. Also two of mine are moulting at the moment so sit about alot anyway saving all their energy I ALWAYS feel guilty for leaving them in their run - im so glad im not alone

jomeena
They do seem to have us all on a guilt trip. They peck my feet if im late letting them out and as soon as ive changed the food and water they are back in. How to train your human ? docsquid
They are also a bit wise to the scattering corn to get them to go back in the run trick. This evening there was a certain amount of picking up and protesting to get them back in. Of course if I had wanted them out so I could clean the Cube they would have refused to come out of the run Chickens! Don't you just love 'em?! henriette
Let mine out this morning into their larger free range run, they had a bit of breakfast, then straight back up the ladder and into their cube. Two minutes later the heavens opened and they were bone dry and I was soaking wet. Clever chickens, eh
