Porkypie
Two of my hens have whiteness on their earlobes whereas my third hen has completely red lobes. This has been there for as long as I can remember but my OH mentioned it and now I'm concerned that it may be a problem. Is this normal? coco
Is it just the colour of their earlobes, different breeds have different coloured lobes. My Silkie croses have blue earlobes.
Egluntyne
I think it may be to do with the bleaching sequence, or loss of pigmentation, which laying hens undergo. **Click**
Jools
What colour eggs do they lay?
Porkypie
What colour eggs do they lay? They all lay brown eggs. A fungal infection crossed my mind so glad to hear that it's just normal variation.
Jools
If there's nothing else wrong, then it's probably nothing to worry about, maybe just keep an eye on it to see if it increases at all. The colour egg question was because white in earlobes normally indicates a white/cream egg layer. Not relevent in your case though lol. Carol U
I have just bought two baby legbars and both have white ear lobes. Sean at The Wernlas Collection said that this is quite natural. Don't worry about it.
Plum
My gingernut has white patches and when I bought my new one the breeder said it was a fault but I'm not bothered.
