What to do with Cinnamon Sticks

Recommended Posts

A question if I may...

I now have LOADS of Cinnamon sticks, from Madagascar and places (been bought back for me, wish I had been!).

Any one got any ideas what to do with it? (apart from more cranberry vodka... )

I don't want to have to buy loads more expensive ingredients to go with it - but don't want to waste it either!

Any suggestions very welcome!

Like the idea - trouble is these sticks don't look in any way pretty and very difficult to tie together... They really are bits of bark off the tree - nothing like the nice neat things you get from the supermarket!!

Be such a shame to waste them - just don't know what to do with them!

Hmmmm More alcohol! Now thats an idea...

Found this on internet:

Ingredients

6 large apples, diced

1 litre/1 pint 15fl oz cider

250ml/8¾fl oz dark rum

3 cinnamon sticks

3 star anise

1 litre/1 pint 15fl oz water

100g/3½oz sugar

Method

1. Place all the ingredients in a pan, except the rum. Cook slowly for one hour 15 minutes, then add the rum. Serve warm or cold.

Sounds very nice... I love rum and cider!

Curries I seldom make from scratch - just because there is a local farmers market where a lady sells her own sauces that are gorgeous - and I try and support her. But I really should try to one day! Perhaps this is the shove that I need!

I have a bunch of cinnamon sticks and tall thin gold candles tied with a gold voile ribbon in a gold painted plant pot. Looks great sat on the shelf in the hallway and smelled nice too, for the first few years

I should add that I didn't waste perfectly good cinnamon sticks but I bought them for crafting and they got left in the shed  and it was the plant pot or the bin :D
