C&T
I know you don't want to hear this - but I don't think you can transfer music from ipod to computer. (Stops people in theory sharing music files). Had a similar thing where I changed computers, and couldn't get my music from ipod to new itunes library. Having said that, there must be a way... Can;'t believe there is not a way round it!
Griffin
I agree, I don't think you can do it. I hate the ipod software with a passion. Everytime I try to change what's on our ipods I end up screaming and am quite tempted to throw a brick at the computer. Why oh why did they have to make it so hard?????? Falkor
Ok, so now I have got the music on the Ipod to show and play on the computer but still not into my libary It sounds like it can not be done as you say BUT I am going to risk it all (687 songs) and try and download some new stuff. Thanks for your help and wish me luck!
The Dogmother
will it not synch at all then?
docsquid
You need to register your new computer with iTunes - you are allowed up to five computers. Then you will be able to sync with your iPod. On iTunes go to Store > Authorise Computer and enter your account details. You will then be able to do all the syncing stuff and re-build your library. I've done this twice now when I've changed computer and it all seems to work just fine.
Katy
You can do it, but you have to get your computer to look at your ipod as a hard drive and import the music to itunes that way. I had the same problem when my pc died and I can't remember exactly how I did it, but I found the answer by asking google - I'd try that first as I think you will just reformat your ipod (ie wipe it) if you try to download something new. bellekatz
My i pod has been registered with 3 computers - as docsquid said - you need to register the new pc with i tunes then sync your music. You only get 5 computers though so if you can, deactivate it from your old one so you don't run out of lives!!
Falkor
I have done that and activated this computer but when i ask it to Sync a message comes up and says : Are you sure? By syncing all content on Emmas Ipod will be erased and replaced by the contents of this Itunes libary ??

Falkor
oh oh ohh!! I downlaoded a new album and asked it to sync and now it is copying ALL the albums/songs that i have previously downloaded to the libary! Which leaves just my stuff on CD on the ipod but not the pooter!!! So if I loose/break the Ipod I still have the CD's and I now have the downloaded albums on the pooter! I will be backing up to the external HD momentarily! THANKS GUYS!!! Where would I be without my Omlet pals in a crisis!?

Wantchooks
You cannot (officially) move tunes from your ipod back into your library if they have been wiped from your library. It's to do with copyright laws and file sharing..... However, if you search on the net, there are several software applications you can download to do it for you. You will pay for them but they don't seem too extravagant if you have tons of music and don't want to build it all up from scratch again! Needless to say these are not supported by Apple - surprise surprise.
