How long should I wait until the next additions?

Recommended Posts

Just read the question and am in two minds really. Theres the argument about getting them asap, so they arent to annoyed that more girls are coming along after they've been living comfortably on their own.

Or there's the argument, with waiting and letting the first two settle in.

Bit undecisive. Im sure someone will be able to decide.

I waited 3 months to add to mine first 2 then it took from the end of June till Early October to intergrate them them nearly a month for them to become one flock during the day I'm still waiting for them to become one flock at bed time the 2 big girls don't do sharing all the time

i got GNR & PP about a month ago & at wkend got 2 orps. GNR & PP live in (pink eglu) & got a (orange eglu) for the new additions. i let them all out to free range after work and they all got along just fine :D . the only prob was when i went out at 5pm they had all put themselves to bed....................... in the (pink eglu):!:

i dont think there is an answer to your question. it just depends on the nature of your chooks

Either asap or wat a while as also recommended by James

If you feel you made a mistake in only getting two and are set on getting another one or two then add to them asap, if you feel you will simply want to expand your flock n the future then let these two bed in and think about it in the spring

thanks guys.

I always knew I would want more than 2, but thought 2 would be a good number to start with, as I never had chickens before.

But they are so great I can't wait to have some more!!!

I think I will wait until March and get some more!

Cheers
