EGLU HEAT PROBLEMS

[welshnik]

We are going to fetch our new tomorrow - but it's in Kent!! Should be an interesting drive!! We are in S Wales but Kent is snowy!!!

Any tips for us? We are soooo pleased to be getting an Eglu!

**EDITED**We were going to fetch it but look at the snow and the strikes (see below!). Any ideas on how to get it here without going to fetch it?

Come on get out of bed, it today

[Tutti Frutti]

Hope you get there OK as it's very snowy! Check out the traffic at http://www.bbc.co.uk/kent/travel/ - hope you can get there on the M2 as the M20 is closed from Jn8 cos of channel tunnel problems so you'll be diverted onto the A20.

If you do go, allow lots of time, pack blankets, wellies, extra jumpers, flask of tea/coffee, and a shovel in case you get stranded...! GOOD LUCK!

Hi Tutti Frutti

Thanks - we've just watched the News and agree that it's a daft idea to go today!!!

Anyone know how we can get it shipped? I tried Shiply but had no response yet......!

I want my and our is being picked up by the buyer on Tuesday! Luckily and can go stay with their auntie in the meantime.

[Tutti Frutti]

I'M SO GLAD YOU'RE NOT GOING! Phew, my brother works there and he confirmed "it's snowy" Is it paid for, where is it, would it fit in a Beetle (hopefully going to Maidstone on Tues - possibly!!!) but even the Eglu was a squeeze in that!

PM me if I can help and get it halfway back to you!

It's all paid for, it just needs collecting and driving over here..... I think a Beetle would be a push tbh!

We might have to arrange to go on Wednesday.... midweek mightn't be so bad?!

[Tutti Frutti]

or try those collection companies on ebay?

http://local-services.shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=%28shipping%2C+courier%29+-car+kent&_sacat=156146&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&Type=Local%2520Area%252F%2520Man%2520with%2520Van&_dmpt=UK_localservices_courier_delivery_GL&_odkw=%28shipping%2C+courier%29+-car&_osacat=156146

But I hope the weather is better by Tues!!!!

[welshnik]

Just had a quote for £145. Hmmmmmmm! Why hasn't anyone from Shiply responded?!

[Wantchooks]

Was it the one on eBay?

If you are coming to Maidstone, then the routes through town are quite clear at the moment - barring any more snowfall.

Thanks for the Maidstone tip. We can't wait to collect now and give our girls a new palace! We think Tuesday should be ok and should be less of an adventure than this weekend!!! -tastic!!

[Tutti Frutti]

My sister reports that they had another 2 inches of snow overnight. We got it here this afternoon and the traffic is gridlocked - apparently the M3 is shut.

I'd wait and see what it's like in the morning... I'm meant to be collecting my sister tomorrow but won't be if it's like this! Mr Frutti just took 2.5 hours to drive 3 miles home from work - he ended up leaving his car in a school car park and walking home! He's just left to go back to get his mobile

Updated: Weds forecast is looking better Just above zero and no snow!

[welshnik]

Thanks for the update

We have booked our hotel in Maidstone now so we are going tomorrow and collecting on Christmas Eve, come what may!!!!!!!

Our was collected today by its new owner so our chickens are away on holiday with their auntie.... I miss and !!

[Tutti Frutti]

(I'm going tomorrow too! Temps will be 3 or 4 degrees - tropical!)

Amazingly Maidstone avoided any more snowfall and roads are just clogged with people going to Fremlin Walk (our not-really-rival to Bluewater). If you can, plan a route to avoid the centre of town.

Feel free to pm me

Thanks all - apparently the Severn Bridge is now shut which isn't great news...... we have booked a hotel so still hoping to travel. Thanks very much to the locals around Maidstone, I'll PM you all a bit later for the weather!!!!!!

[jimnpaula]

Hope the journey is going alright.

Thanks everyone for ALL of your help and advice over the last week! We have just made it home safely with our and can't wait to give it a spruce up and assemble it in our garden. I think and will have to spend Christmas at their auntie's, due to the lateness of our homecoming, but we will try and get photos up for you by the New Year!!

Merry Christmas to all.

[Tutti Frutti]

Ho ho ho! Glad you got there and back safely! It was so much easier today

Can't wait to see photos! Happy Xmas to you too

[Egluntyne]

Glad you had a safe journey with it.
