Alis girls
Do any of you remember these in the 1970's usually aired on Christmas Day evening? There was one called the Signalman - mega spooky - used to finish off Christmas just right. Mum would go to bed as too spooky for her and dad and i would watch from behind a cushion (me not dad). I think they are available from Amazon. I wish they would air them again. I love a good ghost story.
Egluntyne
Me and Him Indoors saw the play 'The Signalman' a few months ago at the Pomegranate Theatre in Chesterfield. It was very good, with a spine tingling twist at the end.
Charlottechicken
I don't remember them, sorry. Wish I did though, I used to watch all the really old Hammer films in the 70's, used to frighten myself witless As long as 'A Christmas Carol' is on though, with Patrick Stewart, I'll be happy. It's got ghosts in it
Alis girls
We watched the one with Georg C Scott last night. It is very good and the grim reaper gives me the eebe geebees even thou I think its on casters!! YS of 8 who watches Michael Jacksons Thriller and all sorts of scarey tripe asked me to sleep with him as he was spooked Of course being the wrong side of 40 I remember all the scarey things that used to be on TV. OH got me the thrillers box set from the 70's a couple of yrs ago. They were on on Saturday nights - the best was one called "Nurse will make it better" (very apt for me) with Diana Dors as a nurse who was into witchcraft. Again I used to watch from behind a cushion and in fact still do.
Valkyrie
I seem to remember "The Woman in Black" but I don't know if that was part of the series. But it was on TV around that time of year. A few years later we went to see the play at the West End and some girl screamed in the front row of the audience when she spotted the woman creepily standing in the shadows. Everybody laughed including the people on stage (who were quite well known actors - can see the faces in my mind but can't remember the names ). OH was quite spooked - but then it doesn't take much to scare him.

I remember the telly version too, it was very good, I don't know why they haven't repeated it.
Charlottechicken
Digressing a little, I scared a colleague by telling her about Springheel Jack. She googled it at home and in the night was woken by a noise outside but was too scared to peep round the curtains and look outside, in case she came face to face with him.
