Chickens and pregnancy

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm pregnant and own chickens. Is there any advice I should be following when it comes to handing/cleaning/generally looking after my chickens?

Obviously I wash my hands after any handling or cleaning out, but should I be avoiding it altogether and getting someone else to do it whilst I'm pregnant? Is there a worry around toxoplasmosis?

Any advice appreciated.

thanks

Emily

As with all things common sense & hygiene are key......................do what you can and ask for help if you can't.......and don't forget to wash your hands a million times everyday & apply moisturiser after every wash so you still have some skin left by the time the baby arrives :anxious: .....or invest in some heavy duty rubber gloves

Good luck with the Babe, when are you due.....nosy Omlet Auntie again

I agree with the others that good hygiene is the main thing, and not to do anything too strenuous like lifting the eglu if you can persuade someone else to do it! I wish I had requested OH did more when I was pregnant although he was suffering from a bad back at the time, typical!:lol:
