craftyhunnypie
on Monday morning, my sister went to let her chickens out and her silkie ran out off her nest and didnt go back to it. So she assumed the eggs were obviously no good. But when she took a closer look, the large egg was smashed into little bits so she thought she'd eaten the egg. They do that sometimes, anyway, when she moved the nest box there was this thing that she thought was a dead mouse or mole. So she got the shovel and tried to move it and it was all floppy - but it moved a tiny bit and she saw it was a chick!! So she quickly picked it up and it was freezing cold as it wasnt in the nest and was nearly dead with eyes shut. She ran inside with it and took it to the top floor and put it under heat lamp where it just lay on its side all floppy. She thought it would die. Anyway she went for a shower and then went to look at it and it was sat there chirping!! She was so pleased she had brought it back to life. She's called it Mole. It's jet black and soo cute but its all on its own in a box, she is looking round for another chick to put in with it. She thinks it is a black rock or a cuckoo maran, hatched by her silkie. craftyhunnypie
Mole is doing very well & is getting some chick friends today from our local breeder. They are being kept on the top floor ( under heat lamp ) of my sisters house, so no worries about the cold. I wonder what sort & how many she will get? We are going with her as we love it there.
