Happy-Mama
Hi, I've just bought the recipe book, though now need to buy a juicer etc Was just wondering if anyone knows how long the smoothies last for once you've made them?
Cinnamon
.........not long in my house Seriously, I would reckon on a day or so, before they go all brown & nasty
Happy-Mama
a day or 2's not so bad especially as you say they will probably be consumed minutes after being made I was thinking of making a heap at the weekend and freezing them but not sure if it is okay to freeze them
Cinnamon
I reckon you could, because you can freeze the Innocent cartons. They are only fruit & maybe some milk, so I am sure they will be fine. In fact I bet they would make amazing lollies
Guns N' Roses forever
My mum buys them for her self but before she's even started on one I've already drunk half of the carton, and then she shouts at me

Popcorn
Innocent drinks last about 48 hours once opened (well, the small cartons do anyway), so I'd go on about that amount of time too. I think it's best to drink them when they are fresh or freeze them though. They do go brown quite quickly and you loose a bit of the goodness if you leave them too long. What have you made? Guest
The lunch-box sized cartons are half price in Sainburys at the moment.
Happy-Mama
Hi, thanks for all the replies. Just reading the book and it suggests making ice lollies so I guess I was asking a daft question I haven't made any yet still need to get a juicer etc, can't wait

I've been buying the childrens' smoothies in the big cartons because they're cheaper. Might have to investigate over the weekend. Rosie won't drink the adult ones 'beacuse they've got bits in' just like Harry and Jules about the bread
Guest
I have been asked to get some more as they both really liked them, even Harry. Dan and I have to nag him to drink as he doesn't drink enough. He has a cup of tea in the morning and then will go all day without a drink and then wonders why he has a headache when he comes home from school
The Dogmother
Silly boy Rosie gets like that too and I have to remind her - her water bottle often comes home untouched

Trish
All smoothies and juices begin to deteriorate as soon as they are made. Not so much in terms of going bad but in terms of the plant enzymes dying. The best way to prolong themost goodness is the get one of those metal flasks, stick in the freezer, open, for about an hour before you make your juice/smoothie and then pop any leftover smoothie into that and pop it straight back in the fridge. It should keep okay that way for about 24 hours. It will still taste great for 2 or three days but there's less goodness there as time goes on. Trish
innocent smoothies are lovely but they have to be pasturised to have the shelf life they do so there will but itamins and minerals left but the plany enzymes will all be dead. Fresh is alway better for you.
