Can anyone shed a bit more light on this. I have a 13+ year old G rated boiler, but it is not on the list for the website of ones included in the scheme.

Is any one else considering updating a boiler using the scheme and do you think it is a good deal - I am very undecided and the reduced cost of a subsidised boiler would still be a lot of money for me - it that makes sense. Any thoughts omleteers??

I have only read the scare stories in the press which seem to say there are not going to be many qualifiers for this, it's not as good a deal as it first appears

I kow of quite a few people who have s"Ooops, word censored!"ped working boilers for condenser boilers and have had nothing but trouble with them. My elderly neighbours have been trying to get theirs working properly for over a year now. We will be sticking with out 20 year old working boiler for as long as we can.

BBC Money Box was talking about the scheme yesterday. Sounds complicated and timecale for agreeing the quote and getting the work done is short, plus companies like BG are apparently reducing their discount offers so the consumer only ends up with a small advantage in some cases.

My lovely gas engineer fitted a bosch instant heat gas thing into a 3 bed semi about 2 yr ago for £1800. Its great, speak to a good gas eng, and see what they say. they're the ones who'll know.

We were quite excited when we heard about this scheme but after hearing a bit more about it at the weekend, I'm not so sure now. You have to apply, then you receive a form. You then have 12 weeks to get the boiler fitter, pay for it, send an invoice back to the people and only then will you get your £400. I think it might be best to shop around and see what other offers there are. I think British Gas are offering, or were offering, £800 off new boilers.

SIL & I both got new boilers just before the s"Ooops, word censored!"page scheme was announced TYPICAL my condensing boiler is working perfectly so nice to go home to a warm house

Thanks folks - I have the British Gas engineers coming on thursday but I will also get a quote off a local company and see what their take on the whole thing is before I commit myself to anything

We were in proces of getting quotes for new boiler so are hoping to benefit from this. B Gas charge nearly double your local plumbers so can afford to offer bigger discount imho.
