sparkysmum
You might remember that my ladies were finding living in the frozen wastes rather challenging Well following kind omleteer's advice we bought a heat lamp from Wells Poultry. Well, the one they sent wasn't powerful enough but now after a long delay we have the right lamp and warm ladies Here they are, please excuse the quality of the photos. Boris my remaining ex batt is in full moult & thoroughly enjoying the heat lamp experience . She's the one lamp bathing on the left

emchook
Hi sparkysmum . Can you tell me how powerful your lamp is now ? I am planning a WIR and that setup looks great .. and I like the seductive red glow .. it will give the neighbours something to speculate about
sparkysmum
Hi emchook, it's a Phillips energy saving infrared lamp. It is 175watts which is equivalent to 250 watt regular. The whole thing probably cost about £25 by the time you pay vat and postage. Worth every penny to know they're warm. You're right about the seductive red glow, makes me smile & the neighbour wonder

Griffin
I order my light bulbs from my feed merchant and they get clear bulbs in especially for me because I don't want a red light shining from my garage

sandyhas3chucks
there are also No light just heat emitting bulbs, the red are recommended as it does not apparently keep them awake, but it does, I have mine on a timer it goes out before the light has gone, so they can go to bed as normal. Love them way they all look up tho, when it goes out!
