Go Webcam

Recommended Posts

I noticed some holes on the Go which say < Webcam > so yesterday thought I'd ask Omlet if they were planning a new product.

The answer was no, its just to connect your own but to let them know ...

I already had a camera which I use with in the theare. It was £30 off ebay - it has infra-red night vison and comes with a mains lead and 9V battery so you can just plug a battery in and rest it on top, it says it is 'water and weather proof' and wireless up to 75m :D

The receiver has white, red + yellow phono leads to plug into the back of a tele. I plugged it in and it looks ok :)

- if you got a phono to vga or usb, in theory you could stream it online with software, but I haven't tried it, yet  ...

That's a great idea, I love it.

I found this on ebay which would probably work.

I'd have to figure out a way of getting power out to the walk in run and also a way of mounting the camera in the eglu.

With mine you can only see a bit at a time because of the camera unless you buy a wider angle lens, I could try putting it in a corner instead of the dead centre with tape instead of a screw.

You can either see the nesting box, roosting bars or the entrance ... can have a play though

Boybeck, thats the same camera :D

You could use those white sticky pads or tape to stick it the the eglu, and if you didn't want to use a 9v battery you'd have to get an outdoor plug. Let us know how you get on :)

This is the phono to vga on ebay £4.30 inc P&P :)

I wonder how long the battery lasts for. Does it turn off and on automatically in the darkness?

No, the infra red lights come on so you can see in the dark 8)

The batteries last a couple of days, at the theatre it goes up on Sunday morning and I changed it on the Tuesday for the first show ... didn't leave it until it ran out though.

Maybe use rechargable batteries so its not too expensive on the batteries

I used duct tape to stick it to the eglu so it's much easier to move around to get the right angle - also helps if you have someone indoors watching the tv to go "left a bit, right a bit, down a bit" etc :D

I cant remember the make of camera I had now but it had the option of batteries or mains connection.

I dont think batteries would last that long unless you could train the chooks to switch it off before they go to sleep

thanks so much that link is fantastic! i am a complete technophobe - does that contain eveything i would need - i already have a red and yellow lead that goes in to the telly from the dvd so i presume i could just use that.

If that is all i need i im gonna go for it - what a bargain!! How exciting!

Yep, you literally plug the battery into the camera, plug the receiver into the tele (using the same one from the dvd will be fine) and turn it on :D

Hello, I have been reading this post and have come to like the idea of the wireless cctv type thing.... more so as we were badly foxed xmas eve. the only problem is we have a 100ft garden and the girls are at the bottom!!

does anyone have any recommendations on what to go for??? i dont want to them to be too big and suitable for all types of weather (we have electric down there)

Thankyou x
