Lewis
I noticed some holes on the Go which say < Webcam > so yesterday thought I'd ask Omlet if they were planning a new product. The answer was no, its just to connect your own but to let them know ... I already had a camera which I use with in the theare. It was £30 off ebay - it has infra-red night vison and comes with a mains lead and 9V battery so you can just plug a battery in and rest it on top, it says it is 'water and weather proof' and wireless up to 75m The receiver has white, red + yellow phono leads to plug into the back of a tele. I plugged it in and it looks ok - if you got a phono to vga or usb, in theory you could stream it online with software, but I haven't tried it, yet ... sandyhas3chucks
thank you, gives me something else to try searching
Laura & CTB
I used to have an infra red camera/microphone set up in the eglu - better than watching TV any night Watching them all jostle for position and listening to the cute noises is very addictive - have fun
sandyhas3chucks
did you manage to position it where yu could see all the inside?
Laura & CTB
Yes - took a few goes but found if it was mounted at the top of the front wall (by the vent holes) then you could see everywhere except the very start of the entrance. Boybeck
That's a great idea, I love it. I found this on ebay which would probably work. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WIRELESS-CCTV-CAMERA-SPYCAM-NIGHT-VISION-WEATHERPROOF_W0QQitemZ360226157152QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CCTV?hash=item53df26f260 I'd have to figure out a way of getting power out to the walk in run and also a way of mounting the camera in the eglu. Lewis
With mine you can only see a bit at a time because of the camera unless you buy a wider angle lens, I could try putting it in a corner instead of the dead centre with tape instead of a screw. You can either see the nesting box, roosting bars or the entrance ... can have a play though Boybeck, thats the same camera You could use those white sticky pads or tape to stick it the the eglu, and if you didn't want to use a 9v battery you'd have to get an outdoor plug. Let us know how you get on This is the phono to vga on ebay £4.30 inc P&P
Boybeck
I wonder how long the battery lasts for. Does it turn off and on automatically in the darkness?
Lewis
I wonder how long the battery lasts for. Does it turn off and on automatically in the darkness? No, the infra red lights come on so you can see in the dark The batteries last a couple of days, at the theatre it goes up on Sunday morning and I changed it on the Tuesday for the first show ... didn't leave it until it ran out though. Maybe use rechargable batteries so its not too expensive on the batteries
Raina
Oooh, like your webcam Lewis! I have an Old CCTV camera (Black & White,Infa Red & sound) that can only connect to my TV via a scart lead,is there anything i can use to connect that to my PC? Thanks
Boybeck
LOL oh yeah. Hmm I think the mains power is the best option for the camera to save the hassle of changing batteries. Shame that power cable isn't very long. I need about 4 metres to get it to the socket in the garage.
Raina
My CCTV is pretty good, but it's not wireless. It's got about 20 - 30 meters of cable and the plug socket is connected to the scart
Lewis
You can buy weatherproof extensions from B&Q which just plug in as normal, then have a big box on the end that you close and click shut Raina, would this work, or is it the wrong scart? The other way I can think of is to get a scart to phono then the phono to vga I posted before
sandyhas3chucks
raina, even if we get the correct cables to ur pc's I think we need something called a dvr card inside our pc's. Am hping someone will tell us. you could try searching for scart - usb cables/converters , or scart to vga cnverters
Laura & CTB
You can either see the nesting box, roosting bars or the entrance ... can have a play though I used duct tape to stick it to the eglu so it's much easier to move around to get the right angle - also helps if you have someone indoors watching the tv to go "left a bit, right a bit, down a bit" etc I cant remember the make of camera I had now but it had the option of batteries or mains connection. I dont think batteries would last that long unless you could train the chooks to switch it off before they go to sleep
eggalp
lwescott, what make is your camera please? i would love to have a camera to watch the chooks at night but have no means of outside electricity - one with a battery would be perfect! Yep, you literally plug the battery into the camera, plug the receiver into the tele (using the same one from the dvd will be fine) and turn it on

Obviously can stream as there is a setting, not had time to suss that bit out tho yet. looks a little more complicated. apparently there is a wizard but not on the VLC version I have
