Does any one know if is safe to use antibacterial kitchen wipes on the Eglu. When I clean out the poo tray every week the roosting bars still look dirty even after I have s"Ooops, word censored!"ed them. I usually leave the full scrub out as a monthly job. Or should I be scrubbing out each week?

I usually take a bucket of hot water with a bit of washing up liquid in up to the WIR every couple of days to quickly wash the bars in, dry them off and stick them back in as they do get very dirty. Either that or I get them out and hose them down quickly with the hose pipe. I put newspaper in the tray. Then I do a big hose down every few weeks. Not sure about the antibacterial wipes but sure someone will know

It's best not to use human disinfectants for animal housing and feed bowls as some of them are toxic to critters. Poultry Shield or Total Mite Kill Concentrate are excellent coop cleaners.

I have a car washing mit and clean my cube including the bars with that, it cost all of a £1 I use poultry shield

Just reading this thread and just wondered is it ok to use the poultryshield etc.. in the cube? I thought you should just use ecover cleaner and just diatom mite powder as these were less harmful to the cube and the chooks of course?

I have used it and it was fine. I now wash the cube out with the Nettex sterilising solution (after I have washed the feeders in it), then spray and powder.

Dont use anything, just power wash it and comes clean

I do that too, just every few weeks though... or when I can find it in the shed

Poultry shield is fine for using inside the chooks housing, that's what it's designed for so there are no risks to the birds. It will clean your roosting bars up a treat - mine have wooden perches in their house which get really gross, but the poultry shield lifts the dirt off easily.
