Anyone got 'Tony' with cube pop hole and leaves door open??

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I am nearly ready for my (hopefully) A4U WIR (if i can persuade DH to spend that extra cash from a cheaper one we've seen) Anyway............. I am planning to have my cube outside the run with a pop hole, but i do like to leave the cube door open overnight.

Is this safe? am i better putting the cube inside? Can a fox knock over the cube and hence get to hens through open door?

Am i worrying about my girls a little too much!!!

HELP PLEASE

I dont have a TONY but I have a run made by my husband and have the cube on the outside just like you mentioned. The cube door is always left open. They come and go as they please. mine sleep in the nestbox all 5 of them!, well Dory actually wedges herself in the hole leading to the nestbox

The cube would be WAY too heavy for a fox to shift.

I have my cube outside with a Tony pophole and I don't close the cube door.

Debs - just checked out your chook photos and stories (one of your hens has my name!) - excellent record! I can't believe how many eggs Ace has laid! What size WIR have you got for them all (it looks very crowded with all kinds of places to play - like the seats at the end too!).

Cheers.
