Ah. I thought this was a trendy new name for cross-country skiing. But it's more reckless crazy madness isn't it?

 

Winter Olympians make Summer Olympians (pole vaulters excepted) look like wussy girls. They is WELL hardcore aren't they?! :D It's all so visceral and death-defying!

 

Is Ski Sunday still on? We should get some Omlet Power going to get more winter sports on the telly! :lol:

How about the ski cross. So exciting. I loved it

 

I always thought downhill racers were completely unhinged, but then they invented a new type of downhill - with jumps, and four of them racing together and called it ski-cross! It is absolutely insane. I thought it was brilliant, but I'm not tempted to have a go. I have skied a ski-cross course *on my own* and found it pretty alarming, and definitely didn't go full speed all the way down.

 

I was cheering for the guy from Jamaica because my sister-in-law is Jamaican. Shame he didn't get to the semi-finals.

I have done some cross country skiing and it is seriously hard work Those men doing the relay must be so fit - many of them were just collapsing over the line after the exertion. Some of those hills would nearly kill me to walk up, let alone ski up!

 

That Norweigian guy was totally amazing to come up from over 30 seconds behind to take the silver.

It was an astounding feat of fitness. Cross country skiing is seriously hard work - not just going up the hills. Some of those hills would be steep on proper alpine skis with good edges to give you control but these guys are on skinny skis without good edges, and they manage to get down slopes that would have many an alpine skier thinking hard about it.

 

I love watching winter sports! Looking forward to the second run of the womens' GS if it happens today.
