just curious..... does temperature affect the sex an egg will hatch?? i swear i read this somewhere n thought....

I think it's a myth but a similar theory is that hatching earlier in the year produces more boys but the only problem with doing research to test this is that you have to decide what 'earlier in the year' means in the hatching year

I read something that in colder weather/winter hatches are more likely to be males.

I think younger hens are more likely to produce more cockerels, and earlier on in the year you get more cockerels ... something to do with competition, and nature produces more males so that there can be at least one with a competitive advantage

 

I think the temperature thing is reptiles ... not sure how it works though

There has been some experimentation with this on the practical Poultry forum, results were inconclusive if I remember correctly
