AJuff
I'm sick to death of pooey eggs and enough is enough. I turf out at least three girls every night from teh nest box and the minute I'm gone they climb back in. I am deliberating getting two of those black roll away trays and building a frame to fit them inside the cube. Has anyone tried this? I love all my cube except the nest box. AJuff
http://www.chickbox.co.uk/?p=106 I wonder if this could somehow be fitted into the cube somewhere? Perhaps take out the divider and put this at the back/side?

Tutti Frutti
It took me a long time to find a solution for this! But mine involves me cleaning the poo out of the nest box when I let the girls out in the morning. Problem is, I'm half asleep - sure I got poo on my dressing gown this morning Free solution and it's working so far (touch wood!).

sandyhas3chucks
oh what are you lot complaining about, Mine dash for a box in the downstairs bathroom. The noise to keep them out has to be heard to be believed, then there are 5 of them queing for the ONLY place any self respecting chook could possibly lay I have one, the smallest, that will go to all other 4 alternative places to lay and scrathes ALL the bedding out and then doesn't do it. Have to shut door to one Eglu!!! what happened to the cat basket in the run that WAS the ONLY place every girl needed? Still could be worse, therewas the time one spotted a suitable nest site down the garden in the greenhouse and was yelling at the gate the next morning to get in
Cranfield Kate
mine sleep and poo in the nest box in their little coop but then when they move into the big coop they only use the portable nest box (cat litter tray with lid...) for laying in and occasionally going in there and having a look. i poo pick their coop nest box every morning and now have a bag of poo in the shed. Treekeeper
I now block the nest box up with a piece of hard plastic and an old wooden roosting bar so they all have to sleep on the roosting bars
Bunnyish
Feel guilty blocking cat basket and coop nest up cos they sleep in nest box coop, well 3 ex batts squeeeeeze into together!! It's that bad to get a nest box bed that my girls go to roost before it's even dark out! Got hom yest 4.30 in the afternoon thought I'd go see them and all 10 were in bed!! Il block it up in the summer bit warmer n hopefully stopped rainin, had horrible weather pretty much rained last 14 days, garden in swamp thing!!!! They would head for the hills.
sandyhas3chucks
off the topic a little, but someone has a cockeral that sleeps under the stairs. I wondered what they do when/if go away. couldn't have hensitter, too difficult with my disabled girl

Hens can be quite frightening in that state when you know nothing about them. Sorry lost the plot now.
