Sally k
Hi My hens eggs appear to be watery, it the white part of the egg. The yolk is of a good colour, shape and form. Are they still ok to eat? My hens (3) appear to be in good health and are happy. Its just my 3 yr and 1 yr old love collecting the eggs and having them for breakfast and I'm not sure if they are ok to eat. Thank-you for reading Sally
Egluntyne
They are ok to eat. It is failry common in the eggs of hens who are getting on a bit.
legend21
My ex batts, whites are the same, I think its because they have laid so many, I use the silicon rings from betaware and they give me nice round whites Jackie
sparkysmum
My Boris lays huge eggs with watery whites. I'm afraid I scramble them & feed them back to the hens. They love it but I hope someone doesn't come along to say it's wrong
chickencam
One of my original Pepperpots laid watery eggs for most of her life, they got worse with age, I would usually use them in baking or scrambled or in an omelette.
Looney
My Doris lays watery eggs, if I try to fry one it spreads across the whole pan! They still taste great though.
chickyhazel
Watery eggs are fine to eat and they taste great, so don't worry! Hazel, Ranger, Porsche, Audi, RIP Chestnut, +1 not named Noodle x1 (new today!)x1
CrazyDaizy
When you say "watery" eggs.... do they still cook the same, so that they are not watery when they are cooked. I have noticed a watery egg, was no use as a boiled egg.... we have a chook who is almost 4 so she could be laying them..... Problem is... some of the egg yolks from one of our three chickens (maybe the oldest??) taste mouldy!!! Havent a clue what that is... it's put me off eating the other eggs, and it's also preventing me from giving them away/selling them to family + friends. If I can scramble them and feed them back to the chooks then brill
