PurpleHen
My Dad sent me this link and thought you might be interested. Times Online It really is hard to know who you can trust these days... Possibly more reason to trust local food - but then unless you go and inspect the chickens yourself......
Egluntyne
Good grief....I'm giving more and more thought to raising my own for the family to eat. (I don't eat meat myself.) Reading articles like that make me more and more glad that I became a vegetarian.
Lesley
and me - although I do eat meat we raise ourselves now.
Louise
Hmmmmm I am slightly sceptical about some of that as Fish meal has been banned from all animal feed in the UK for about 7 or 8 years now It was one of the measures put in place after BSE to prevent any animal protein being fed to vegetarian species The only animals to be fed meat are true carnivores cats, dogs and ferrets etc
buffie
Read everything with a pinch of salt I say, I think local well sourced organic or not, is the best bet! Sheepdrove have high standards, it's worth shopping around. BBx
The Dogmother
If in doubt, buy from a farmers' market, where you can question the farmers and even visit their premises to see for yourself. Or 'do a Lesley' and grow your own.
