Better late than never

Recommended Posts

Some of my chicks were due to hatch on Easter Sunday but didn't.

:(

After contacting some forum friends with a lot more experience than me, I candled them last night to see one chick seemingly running around the inside of the egg  , one pipped and took over 24 hours to get out  , and another was chirping away at me with what looked like no intention of coming out :? .

Anyway, today, Sloth arrived (a bit on the small side) along with another big, healthy bruiser of a pekin. The third has pipped and is being cheered on by Sloth (at least her lungs are good).

Notice the wishful thinking there!

:D

The Maran egg (only one left :( ) is due in three days time, the conservatory looks like a maternity unit, Peregrine, the brahma has gone broody so she getting three LF Welsummer eggs and three Copper Black Maran eggs to sit on and hubby is being brilliant (as usual) building a patio for the new quail run / growers run and a base for Henonism (the second run. We have children in and out constantly (along with their parents) checking on progress. It's basically bedlam but in a good way.
