Hello.

 

I recently got my first chickens so i've got a million and one probably stupid questions

 

Well there is one of my chickens that seems to be isolating herself from the others, even though i don't think she is picked on - she was at the front of the queue for feeding today!

 

The other two hang around in the run and scratch around and she seems to be hiding in the coop. She is sitting on the nest box a lot but they are all POL hens and i don't think she is the oldest.

 

She came out for 30 mins in the morning and has been inside by herself for a couple of hours now.

 

Is it normal?

 

Should i close the coop during the day for a few days?

Maybe she is working up to laying her first egg?

I thought it might be that but i don't know, i kinda thought theys pop in to lay and pop out

No, they can take ages over it! sounds to me too, as if she is probably getting into laying mode. As long as she's eating and drinking and generally looks perky, I wouldn't worry.
