help hemcore!

Recommended Posts

You don't need to water hemcore if you're using it in a run, only if you're using it as horse bedding.

As for how much to use, that's up to you. Is your run covered? Ideally it works best if kept dry, it soaks up any liquid in the hen poo so you can poo pick easily. Lots of people put a layer a couple of inches deep. Beware that they will kick it out through the sides of the run though, kick boards/garden edging along the side help to keep it in place.

Hi

I only use hemcore in the nest area with a sprinkle of mite powder, lasts for ages! I line the trays now with hemcore and just tip them out and hose them off(I use to line with newspaper but now just the hemcore)

Woodchips in the run which have been down since about november(on concrete) I just pile it all back every day to the edges and they scoot it all out and repeat!

Lucky if you are getting Hemcore still, I have just had to change as cannot get Hemcore any more

I have horses too and never wet it, just deep litter it and pick out the manure , puting hemcore to the sides(no different to the chickens really)

indie :)
