Madchook
Day 18 today of my first Suro hatch, just taken out the dividers and taken it out of the cradle. Down to 14 eggs from 24 which is about what I expected and is quite reasonable, 3 Cream Legbars (cracked one didn't make it and pheasant died at about day 11), 4 mixed breed banties and 7 cuckoo marans. The marans eggs are wobbling like good'uns-which is fab as in my previous hatches I have never had wobblers but maybe that is because they have been on their sides where-as these ones have to orientate themselves. I am not counting my chickens this time though, whatever happens, happens. I am pleased with the incy though, it is holding the humidity nicely, alleviates a bit of the worry. Fingers crossed.... Madchook
2 marans out so far and a lovely yellow and black funny thing that looks like it might have a fluffy head Still no signs of the legbars or other bantams doing anything. Madchook
5 this morning (4 maran), all dry so took them out - there really isn't much room in the suro one they have started hatching Couple of legbars have pipped and more marans are wobbling. I am really hoping we get some more crazy looking bantams hatch though, the yellow one is funky (dd named it Mango!).
Madchook
Are hatches normally this protracted? Just had a quick candle of remaining eggs and the bantams are def still alive, one was pipping internally. Had three hatch last night(2 legbars and a maran) - it is bizarre, this is the 3rd day. I am kind of wondering about the positioning in the incy, the marans were all in the back rows, the others at the front. I suppose the marans were also bigger eggs and bigger chicks. Hmmm. Lewis
Well done And yep, they can spread out a few days hatching - I'd leave them a couple more and hope for the best
