LittleOwl
After me posting here that I was a little concerned that our columbine Honey wasn't laying yet, today she presented us with a little blue egg! So that means the pair we got on Easter Sunday are giving us 1 blue and 1 green, which is great It is a sort of slate-blue, but Treacle's were an olivey-green and are now a pastel green, so I'm hoping that Honey's will develop to be slightly paler and bluer. I love chickens!!

l_ouise
Nice one I bought a hybrid and there is 80% chance of blue eggs and her ear (i think it's called) has blue skin so i'm hoping!

Florence
Well done ,I'm really jealous as as our colombine which we got on Easter Sunday is showing no signs as yet of laying Still it will be extra exciting when she does
LittleOwl
Thanks all!! She has continued to give us an egg a day, and they are indeed getting bluer, albeit still a little small! l_ouise, I had read about the blue skin thing on here, and there was one there when I got these but the guy couldn't catch her! These two haven't got coloured skin next to their ears...the other theory on here was wondering whether the lighter ones laid the cream coloured eggs, and the adrker the more highly coloured, but these are both pale coloured birds....we really need a columbine survey to see if there is any rhyme or reason to who laid what!! Florence, I know that feeling too well.....fingers crossed yours will start very very soon!
l_ouise
Hmm, so more pigment in the feathers the more pigment in the egg? Maybe. I wish it was more easy to tell We should create a survey!
