chick wiggle
I was thinking of getting one of these and wondering if it picks up chicken poo as well as moss and other rubbish. With 16 hens pooing all over the garden thats a LOT of time picking it up

Jules.
i got given one of these, never used it & freecycled it yesterday. But my hens are no longer allowed on my lawn, as they will head straight for the new raised beds & seedlings, so I'm not too about passing it on. They are restricted to the WIR & the FR netted area at the bottom of the garden
chickweed
We've got quite an old one but only use it about twice a year to remove moss. It's great, and it does pick up chicken poo too, but it would be a very slow way to poo pick on a daily basis.
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
I was imagining a traditional hand rake, but with a current so it jiggled like an electric toothbrush!

Thanks Chickweed but i see you have two chickens, do you think it would be quicker than picking by hand after 16 chickens? !
ValerieR
I've got one - fab for removing thatch etc from the grass - would prob pick up poo I think. Does wonders for the grass - amazing the amount of moss and dead stuff it rakes out!
bronze
we have a real old workhorse scarifier. Would make it pretty grim to do poo too though it does a great job of the lawn

Thanks Chickweed but i see you have two chickens, do you think it would be quicker than picking by hand after 16 chickens? ! I think it depends on the size of your lawn and how much moss there is. Once the moss is cleared, I imagine you could do the job faster. I don't think wet/sticky poo would lift easily though and would probably smear along blades of grass. I have a big garden and the twice yearly scarifying takes hours due to the build up of moss and it's only done when the weather is dry.
