Mrs Frugal
Is it horticultural lime to use on the garden, Emma? If you bought it from the garden section and it is horticultural or garden lime, it's fine to sprinkle on the ground where the hens are as it's a natural antibacterial and will keep odours down and keep the ground fresh. If it's the lime you use for making plaster or doing limewash on walls, it's NOT suitable and will burn your hens if they come into contact with it. I use this one in the chicken run and it's perfectly safe. If yours is grey in colour and granular and is meant for the garden, it's fine.
