While he's been back, my son has told me much that has terrified me, but one thing has made me so angry. He was in a small PB on the front line and so had no easy access to food. Whilst occasionally they did get some decent food, they also were living on ration packs that were three years out of date. He told me the Yorkie Bars were white and just crumbled. He is a tough so and so, but as his mum it hurts so I thought I would tell you.

thats disgusting that they are expected to eat that, I can totally understand how that would make you feel.

I'm so sorry to hear this - I thought & hoped our forces were better looked after than this Would it be worth bringing this to the attention of higher powers

I expect they already know, it's nothing new. In Iraq, the Americans called our soldiers 'the Borrowers' because they were always scrounging food and equipment. I should say that the new ration packs are apparently very good, packed with nutritional food but it seems not everyone is getting them. I think it's all just a bit hit and miss, I just felt the need to moan.

I'm really shocked to hear that, its disgusting that they are treated this way. Its not like they have an option of getting anything else to eat is it? What can we do? Who could we protest to?

My goodness that is shocking and how awful for you to hear what your brave boy has been through. We hear all about equipment shortages and inadequacies but lack of a basic like food is just awful. What happened to 'An army marches on it's stomach'

That is so shocking and disappointing; especially when it concerns something so essential, yet necessary.
