I am always pleased when the children want to be helpful so was happy for him to go out, give them treats, change their water and let them free range. He was out there for ages and when I looked through the window he was sitting on the swing hugging a chook and chatting away to it. Lovely I thought. When he eventually came in he had mud - a lot of mud - all down the front of his school sweatshirt and trousers Well, it had been raining for most of the day and he wanted to hug each chook How could I be cross?
