Tutti Frutti
FANTASTIC photos! Yup sure did smile but how come you have GRASS??? Like your run set up too, very In fact, your whole garden is neat and tidy... how did you manage that?
dannablue
Thank you I still have grass as I restrict their free ranging to shorter periods, seems to be working. Itend to go around poop scooping as soon as they return to their run and I try and keep up to the garden doing a small amount regularly and thus far it works for us. My OH kindly extended that run so they had plenty of space to roam in whilst in the run, they spend hours digging in there and seem really happy with their restricted free range. Have only had them 3 months too so there is plenty of time for them to create more havoc but I plan to keep on top of it.

dannablue
Thanks everyone. I am quite good at poop scooping after they have been out...I clean it up each day, and also pick poop out of their run with a full clean out of the run and coop each weekend. Keeps the smells down and its safe to walk about without stepping in something soft and squishy

docsquid
Lovely photos, and such elegant technique from Maude with her toes pointed behind her LOL. How come your Welsummer got away with a grape without the others trying to steal it off her? When I give mine grapes, they ignore the grapes in my hand in favour of trying to steal them from each other
dannablue
Well docsquid they seem to like to take it in turns, no honestly! My OH (see in first pic) started this game with them some time ago and each time he calls their names in turn and they have learned to only jump up when its their go They do however not have this angelic behaviour when it comes to finding a worm...its every girl for themselves and usually results in a mass chase around the garden and much boc bocking
dannablue
Thought you might like to see the girls in action "live"...forgive my attire but I am prepped for chickens and gardening
CatieB
The photos and clip are hilarious. Sorry for such a basic question - I'm new to this - but what is the best way to poo pick, I keep seeing it mentioned, do people use something or as simple as their hand? Thanks
Isabel
Wow ... that's fantastic ... lovely chickens, gorgeous garden. How do you manage with the soft, squishy, curry poos? I only got chickens last week & they're in a small run for now but will fr soon ... I poop scoop in run x3 per day and still can't manage to get it all up - esp the squishy numbers! And the shovel I use is lifting the grass

dannablue
I find a pair of ordinary kitchen rubber gloves are the best for poop scooping in the run. I use Stalosan F which in the run to keep the smells down. I use two trowels for the curry poos on the lawn and then spray the left over stain on the grass with the watering can or hose pipe. I use Bokashi Bran in their food also which helps keep their normal poos nice and manageable (not runny). Works for me. Glad you like the videos. They are gorgeous girls, and I love them all.
