Unsecure chicken perches

Hello

 

i am new to the forum and i think this could be my first post

 

i have four chickens as you can see from my signature and they are my first flock...i've only had them for two weeks. i have been letting them free range since monday and, at first they just clucked around their run but each day they are getting braver. yesterday i came home and couldn't find them anywhere...i know they can't escape and all four always stick together so i wasn't too worried. they had sneaked under my gate and were rootling around under my caravan so i've blocked that hole up

 

today, i've just gone through to the kitchen to make a coffee and all four of them are sitting on the conservatory window sill ( very low window sill) looking in the house....i love them all dearly but that sight did freak me out a little bit

Aaawww bless them, they are very nosey little minxes aren't they And be sure that any tiny gap will be found and used to their fullest capabilities It's when somebody leaves the back door open & they are behind you as you make the coffee, that's when it's a bit freaky, mine sneak up silently & bok as they get close My 3 Labs are so used to them tootling about they don't alert me to feathered intruders

Ours like sitting on our (quite high) windowsill and nosing at what I'm doing in the kitchen or at the dining room table. Bless them!

thanks for your nice replies . yes, i expect having them creep up behind me whilst i making the coffee would really be a shock

 

we have a flat coat, molly, i still keep her on the lead at the moment around them...it's a big ask of a year old retriever not to retrieve

Welcome to crazy chicken world

We had a tree felled and the sawdust is piled in a huge heap, which is now uncomfortably hot.

My four climb up there in the morning and sit shuffling from foot to foot till they can bear it no longer and slide down, leaving the pile steaming in the morning air

Chooks, you will find, are a never ending source of enjoyment.
