How do I make scrambled egg for chickens and more advice

Recommended Posts

To help Evie get better the vet suggested scrambled egg with the shell. I know how to make human scrambled egg but not for chickens and how do I make it with the shell ? Does the shell need anything done to it first?

Also to fatten her up as she has lost quite a lot of weight, how much of nice things can i give her to encourage her to eat ? She isn't really into the pellets at the moment but did enjoy the spoonful of tuna with her medicine.

Thanks for any help xxx

I make scrambled egg for the chooks the same way as for us, and as far as the shell is concerned, I'd bake then crush it so it's not recognisable as shell. The last thing you want is a chook who eats egg shell from the freshly laid ones

Whenever I have a poorly chook I give her whatever tempts her & always have pellets on offer along with the obligatory water dosed with Avipro for her to help herself to as & when she feels like it. Mine have liked (though not all at the same time  ) scrambled egg, ready brek, tuna, sweetcorn, raw apple and apple sauce, mealworms, maggots (make sure she eats them all & none escape especially if she's housed indoors whilst poorly :vom::vom::vom: ), cucumber, grapes, mash porridge with poultry spice or similar added, sultanas/raisins, crushed corn.

I hope Evie gets well soon, they are such a worry when they are poorly :(

Thanks everyone, i've just put an egg on to boil. Can she have the whole amount ?

I just found her a tomato, some sultanas and some pasta ( all chopped into tiny pieces of course) and she is busy tucking into those. The other 2 are sooooo jealous :mrgreen: . I suppose she will only eat what she wants ?

I don't want to give her too much of the wrong things but then at the moment I'd rather she just eats.
