chuckmum6
My Pekin has been sitting on these eggs for 17 days, 3 have already been disguarded by me as they were infertile, not sure about these. They have a large dark section and it all seem fairly fluid, no obvious shape. I am not hopeful and wonder how long do I let her sit on them for to be sure. Then if nothing comes from them, how do I deal with my broody to reintroduce her and persuade her she isn't going to be a mummy I will try and add pictures so you can see what you think - I'm not sure what they should look like at this stage. The Dogmother
If they are bantam eggs, then they ought to hatch at 19 days approximately, regular hen eggs at 21 days. So leave it a few days past the appropriate deadline, then pop madam in a broody cage for 3 days to snap her out of it before re-introducing her. Madchook
Are they really fluidy? If the mass moves, it isn't hopeful. If she is in an ok condition and still eats, why not get some more and try again?
Redwing
There should be a dark mass but it shouldnt move at this stage Most of my bantams still hatch at 21 days so leave her till day 23 Make the decision to break her broodiness or let her sit again based on her overall condition as Madchook says
