Lesley
Those of you who were listening - can you make meringues from duck eggs or not? I started at 30 mins and have been skipping through and heard the question - but missed the answer. I've restarted listening at 20 mins - I'll be a gibbering wreck soon I hope I find Helen soon.............

Hellcat
Just listened to myself back - yeuchh! I sound like a right chav! Still, good to be able to talk up the eglu. I only knew about it because laridae65 (new to forum) called to say the eglu was on. We tuned in and I picked up the phone. So, if you're out there Laridae65 - cheers! AnnieP
The answer to the merangue with duck eggs was a resounding no. something to do with the albumen in the egg white not being the same make up as in a hen's egg.....
Hellcat
Thank you Phil for teaching me humility... sorry Helen - but you rather walked into it!! Phil Bless you. You probably remember Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, with Kevin Costner? Well, its the same line, bar one word, that Friar Tuck uses after being hitched to a cart as a draft horse... Lesley
The answer to the merangue with duck eggs was a resounding no. something to do with the albumen in the egg white not being the same make up as in a hen's egg..... Thank you Annie - I wondered if that might be the answer as the white is definitely different. It's a good job that Martin buys some of our duck eggs then! CannyCat
I always listen to Chris, on the way home from work (he's fab). He mentioned he'd had chickens before, but foxes had gotten them all. He called the Eglu and Iglo for a bit, but did get it right in the end I think it was an "egg themed" evening, because all the songs had chicken/egg connections! If anyone from Omlet is reading - he did express interest in talking to someone from Omlet on air, might be worth a call?

Cinnamon
Been thinking - do you think "hate" a bit strong?! If it were "I hate the Albion" or something like that, then not so bad - but I feel a bit bad for Chris Evans here!!! I reckon most people have irrational hatreds of celebs who we have never met - I know I do I like Chris Evans, but if Ricky Tomlinson,Cilla Black or Amy Winehouse (amoung others) come on TV I turn over because I hate their onscreen persona /presenting style I am sure that is what Helen means
bronze
Lesley Garret Sarah Lancashire (said that once to mil who then told me her family were friends ) Alan Sugar (though did manage comic relief apprentice) Amy Winehouse agh shall I stop now I'm surprised I even watch tv at all. I do like Chris Evans though
Egluntyne
Very good point actually! I hate Mick Hucknall. I mean I REALLY hate him! Euuggghhh! I can remember him bragging about keeping his council house and I thought; if you were such a socialist then you would give up your council house for someone who really needs it. Hear hear re the Council House Daniel. I like Mick Hucknall's music....but he is sooooo ugly that I can't look at him. I realise that beauty is in the eye of the beholder etc. Ricky Tomlinson is inclined to overdo the working class lad bit too,(speaking as someone who comes from a working class background.)
