Couperwife
oh boo hiss for you we have changed from reports this year - we do tracking - every half term, as soon as you get one lot of tracking done, you then have to think about the next one - dont know whats worse - one session of writing a million reports, or starting in September and technically doing them all year it will be over soon - promise ((hugs)) cathy x
Janty
We do the tracking thing as well but senior management said that we also have to do an end of year report to parents as well. Still feeling sorry for myself!
AJuff
Janty my heart goes out to you. I hate writing reports too!! I haven't really started other than take a few report photos for the front cover. This coming week I'm owed double P P A time and will make a proper start then and make huge in roads during half term. Do you have a strategy? Last year I decided to write them in alphabetical order so I didn't leave the tricky ones to last. It worked very well. I'll do the same again this year!!! I have all sorts of weird and wonderful ways to stave off boredom, make myself feel human and treat myself. You know the . . when i finish this section I'll do x, y, z etc. eat, drink, water the plants, put away washing, check the omlet forum, read one chapter of my book, collect the eggs, 10 sit ups, move into the garden with my lap top, sit on the patio with lap top, sit in bed with lap top, sit on the sofa, dining table . . anything to keep going and get them written. My poor children know that we don't do anything in the May half term. 'Mum ogre ignores us and writes reports.' Fortunately OH is off and will take the children camping for three days without me. Peace and quiet without interuptions, questions or regular mealtimes. I hate stopping when i'm in the flow to make the kids lunch!!! Just look ahead to the day you hand them in and it's all over for another year!!! Edited May 23, 2010 by Guest

chickencam
It must be a horrible job, but as a parent I love receiving reports on my children. I am lucky that mostly they have always said really lovely things about them though I particularly like the personal comment at the bottom when it says something good it makes me feel so proud. My DS has a good system, they have an order grade every 6 weeks, which keeps you upto speed on how hard they are working. He then gets a slightly more detailed report at the end of each term, with a full end of year report. Very few children tell you how they are doing so regular updates are a great help as to when a bit of extra motivation is needed. I hope that you finish soon and can enjoy the weather. Tracking progress grades & write full reports for each student every half term. Do any of you use statement banks?

Lewis
You can tell some of ours use 'statement banks' - last time me + haf my friends got pretty much identical reports with the odd word changed. As much as we hate getting them, they are useful Can you take your laptop outside + write them?
