Plum
I like 'starting with chickens' by Katie Thear. 'Hen and the Art of Chicken Maintenance' by Martin Gurdon is a good read - his reflections on keeping chickens A subscription to Practical Poultry is a good choice as well

Ain't Nobody Here
Congratulations on your win . As well as books, you can't beat this forum for all things chicken .
migsy
Well done! I was watching that too although I had no intention of bidding. I've only had my chickens in a Go for a week and already I want something bigger but it will have to wait.
CatieB
Well done and welcome to he happy world of chicken keeping from another newbie. I have had my cube and girls for just under 2 weeks now and I'm so fascinated by it all. Although I have a few books that I picked up in the past i haven't used them and I have really relied on this forum for practically all my info. Its so nice to hear about a variety of experience and opinions because like most things there are a wealth of answers and I like to obtain as much info as possible. I have found SO much info here that I doubt is in a book. THANKS EVERYONE Have a good surf around the pages here and you will be amazed at how much you find out. My girls have just started free ranging and one brave girl made it into the house by mistake today. Good luck
scarlettohara
Well done! I was watching that too although I had no intention of bidding. I've only had my chickens in a Go for a week and already I want something bigger but it will have to wait. I had my Go for a month and bought a cube. Must sell Go, must sell Go
migsy
I love your attitude Scarlet O'Hara! I got OH to make a wood chip base for my Go, and sneakily instructed him to make it large enough so that I could fit a cube with 3m extension on it in the future (Haven't told him my plan though! ). Daffodill
I'm with ISCA -the Haynes manual of chicken keeping is a great book that I read from cover to cover and keep dipping into it.
