chickenlicken72
My gingernut ranger Trinny underwent impacted crop surgery a nearly 3 weeks ago and things are still not quite right. She was top chicken (or at least the one keen to keep the others in line). She is back in with the others but is not really joining in with them. Her eyes are bright and clear, comb is a good colour but she is varely eating. Drinking OK and scratching a bit around the garden. Her crop is mostly emptying nicely and is not impacted again and is not watery or smelling so I don't think it is sourcrop. She does tend to tuck herself away and close her eyes and she flicks her head alot. Saying that there are brief moments of 'normal behaviour' last night she tucked into her scrambled egg but today she shows no interest. She has been laying over the past couple of days (good to see but worried with lack of nutrition). I recently wormed them all (using Flubenvet). Any thoughts or wisdom would be much appreciated. Egluntyne
Is the wound OK? No signs of infection? Swelling, redness etc.
chickenlicken72
The skin wound has completely healed. All stitches removed. No local swelling around the wound. I had wondered if the crop sac had healed at the same rate or whether there was still some discomfort there? I had been giving her some live yoghurt to prevent any sour crop but after a while she did not want to eat that either.
Egluntyne
The fact that she is laying is a good sign. All you can do is observe her general health for now. Might be worth having a chat with the vet to put your mind at rest.
