Anyone own a Skoda

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm thinking of trading in my Toyota Corolla diesel for a new Skoda Fabia diesel estate, has anyone on here got any experience of Skoda cars. I've never had one before but have had Volkswagens and Skoda is owned by VW so I am hoping they are similar in most ways. I like the fact that this is a small car with a lot of room in the back for the dog and for carrying all sorts of rubbish that needs to go to the tip etc. I'm not good at making decisions so would be grateful for any advice.

I am in the process of buying a fabia hatchback (nearly new!). I went for a test drive today in the rain- it was roomy and drove well and has mega fuel economy for the diesel one as well as 0nly £20 road tax. I decided that I could spend weeks faffing around and finding car sales men hard work or I could just go for it - So I have done the latter - let's hope it works out well.

Dad used to have one :D:D erm, it was the bigger scoda (cant remember which one  ) but he loved it :D:D:D

SIL has a scoda Fabia and loves it too :D:D

apparently Top gear think they are great cars - except for the name  technically rated higher than other "posh" cars that are equivalent in size (does that last sentence actually make any sense :lol: )

hope this is helpful :D

You're right that they are VWs underneath - the Fabia is the VW Golf and the Seat (something) and probably the Audi (something) too. We've got a Seat Cordoba Vario which is exactly the same car as the VW Polo estate - the only difference is the badge and the fabric on the seats (my mum had a Polo when I was growing up and all the ancillary controls are exactly the same).

I'd totally recommend the VW group - they are built to last and their diesel engines are darned good. I love having an estate too - I can't ever see me going back down to a hatchback!

Hi

Just got rid of my Skoda Fabia for a Toyota. Wasn't a bad car to start with but once it was 6 years old everything went wrong. Motor on fron window went, £180. Oil leak from engine, engine had to be removed cost £500. It was every 6 months something would break. Wouldn't get one again..

I had a Y reg Skoda which I traded in two years ago. I loved it. It was solid, reliable and easy to drive. The only problem I had was a rogue engine management warning light showing intermittently, nothing else and I knew its history from new (bought it off my brother). I would certainly have another one (and my brother has a new model now after trying something else).
