honorandkit
The henhouse arrives today! We've opted for a wooden one on legs with a 6 ft run, as our house is quite cottage-y and I am an old romantic - the one we've chosen has a little heart vent in the front and I plan to paint it cream (I wonder if Omlet would consider making Eglus in more traditional colours? ) The girls arrive tomorrow!!!!!!!!! Hubby is out in the garden, preparing the site. I am going to be spending the day painting our 5-bar gate, so that we can net it to stop them escaping... Haven't actually told our neighbours yet, but figure they won't mind as the neighbours that back onto both our gardens already have 5 chooks. It's like christmas - I can't wait! midori
I've only had my chooks and henhouse a couple of weeks, so I remember only too well just how exciting it was to get them! Even more exciting to get our first egg! Good luck, and post lots of pics when they all arrive. Your henhouse sounds lovely!
chicken bark
I am excited for you. Is the house from Flytesofancy? Good luck with the hens - how many and what sort?
Daffodill
What a great day you have planned
honorandkit
Yes, the henhouse is from Flytesofancy - it's the hobby henhouse on legs, with a 6 foot run. Thankfully, it came before midday (much excitement from the children, as it arrived ready-assembled in a very large lorry!), so I've been able to paint it ready for The Big Day. Hubby is still fixing the run together as I type... We're getting 4 hens - 1 Magpie, 1 Rhondda blue (which I think must be similar to a Bluebelle), 1 Cuckoo Maran and 1 Blackrock. The Blackrock will only be 8 weeks or so, the other three are 13 weeks so a while yet before we get eggs. I'm just thrilled to be fulfilling another dream/ Turns out that next door neighbour's father used to show Rhode Island Reds, and we've promised them a box of eggs soI think they're quite happy about the girls' arrival. I'll be taking photos tomorrow, so watch this space....
