Egluntyne
Keep her off pellets and mash and give her fresh water for 24 hours and during that time, give her crop hourly massage if you can. If you can massage in an upwards direction, you might be able to dislodge it and hoik it out of her mouth. If you have an angling shop nearby, buy a pint of undyed maggots, and feed them to her hourly. They will bore their way through the plug, hopefully. If she appears very hungry, some home-made apple sauce (no sugar). It will help soften the plug, as would a swig of olive oil if you can get it down her. Natural yoghurt will a help too. If there is no improvement in a couple of days, I'd take her to the vet. Occasionally, the plug is further down and won't respond to home treatments. sewitall
I'm going through this with one of my chickens at the moment. I've been massaging her crop constantly for the last few days. She wouldn't eat or drink and yesterday was at death's door. Tried maggots, Tylan solution fed drop by drop to the side of her beak and she was not responding. Decided yesterday afternoon it was make or break and got husband to hold her whilst I forced her beak open to syringe in some olive oil. She got loads of it down her front feathers. Then more massage every hour followed by a night in the warm kitchen. Up early this morning with more massage and further drops of oil alternating with Avipro in water to the side of her beak. Came home from work early this afternoon expecting to find her deceased but on the contrary she seemed more alert. More massage ensued and this evening she started eating a tiny amount of Omlet pellets pre-softened with water and Avipro. I'm totally exhausted but keeping my fingers crossed that the olive oil and regular massaging has worked. She has started preening her oily front feathers. If you can keep her fluid intake up somehow even if it is drop by drop to the side of the beak then this will keep her hydrated whilst you deal with the crop issue.
