Oh she's gorgeous, congratulations she has lovely markings :D

My friend down the road is incubating 7 tortoise eggs. If they hatch they will keep 2 and then give the rest back to a tortoise rescue lady that they know. I think YS is hoping to get one to keep Jeffrey company.

I'd still love a tortoise - but I'm not sure where I'd keep a tortoise table & don't fancy a U.V light on all the time. It used to be bad enough with the red glow from the heat lamp - when I hatched chicks in my front room. Talk about Amsterdam! Thank heavens for electric hens!

Plus I wouldn't want it to be stuck in a table all the time. :( Are there any alternatives? Could I keep one or not?

You can keep them outdoors just as long as you have an heated shed & a predator/dig proof enclosure for them.

You don't need to keep the UV light on 24/7 only 12 hours a day (Same with the heat lamp)

You can also get a Combined UV & Heat lamp that lasts for about a year (they cost about £50)

a 4ft by 2-3ft indoor Rabbit cage would be good enough for a hatchling for a couple of years then 5ft plus once they are adult.

Here's a couple of good tortoise sites you could have a look at

Thank You.

She came running over this morning to get picked up lol

I also gave her a big chunk of butternut squash the other day too (It's a natural wormer)
