Nothing Yet

Recommended Posts

Well its day 21 :D

And there is nothing happening yet ... My dad said there was small cracks the other day but he must of been mistaken ...

I put them in on the 3rd after 10 in the mourning so do you think i will get my first hatch tonight (hatch)

Thanks

Josh

Are there no ventilation holes or external holes you can fill the reservoir up with? :)

Whats humidity at now? If its a lot below 55% I'd be tempted to fill it up quickly or put a damp cloth in, but otherwise leave it as is :D

Its day 22 for my hatching eggs and so far i have only had 1 out off 8 hatch ... When do you think the others will hatch

I was thinking that they could be piping the bottom ... Also i want to hold them and see if i can hear them tapping and see if i can feel anything in them - But i dont want to loose all the humidity ...

Thanks

Josh (hatch)

leave them and dont panic

the idea behind not turning the eggs after 18 days is that the chick will be in a position to hatch however in reality the first chick to hatch barges all of the others around anyway, if that doesnt happen then the motion of the chick in the egg moves it

I've had plenty of eggs that have pipped near the bottom but never had one end up not making it out because of that

I'm at the end of day 21 and absolutely nothing happening. No noise, no motion, beggar all. Making me quite sad now at the thought that they might have perished in shell. I started off with 18 eggs - 6 polish (4 were good at 7 days) 6 sablepoots (3 good at 7 days ) and white silkies - none of which made any attempt and i think most of them were infertile.

So seven left in, and all was good atlast candling at day 16.... so if none of them hatch, I know that they've all died near the end and that makes me really sad :(

fingers crossed for everyone with eggs due to pip. xxx

Nope Nothing Yet - Got A Feeling A Few Will Hatch Tomorrow For Some Reason (hatch)

But If none of my eggs hatch by monday I am going to remove them so that means i will only have 1 chick in the brooder ... Fingers crossed some hatch

What should i do with that 1 chick ?

Should i just leave it in the brooder ?

Or should i see if my frizzle hen who hatched a chick out on the 16th to take it

If so what do i do to see if she wants to adopt the chick ?

Thanks

Josh :D

Sorry you've only had 1 chick hatch, that's life sometimes :(

Your Frizzle won't adopt the chick she will more than likely kill it so don't risk it. Wait to see if anymore hatch and then maybe see if you can find some day old chicks near you. If all else fails, a teddy bear in the brooder :)
