Bexter
She came out of the cube,as usual yesterday morning. At lunch time she was looking a bit miserable & fluffed up,so I put her to bed.Came home from work last night & she was still in bed, made an appointment at the vets for early this morning. But this morning she was dead in the nest box Wish I could have done something for her, should have whisked her to the vets last night.Myrtle was very ill,a couple of weeks ago, took her to the vets, she had a very high temperature but after a couple of injections & some baytril, she pulled through. She was a gorgeous girl!! Anyone else had a similar experience?
Plum
So sorry to hear it. I had one who was unwell and pale first thing in the morning and died within a few hours before I could get her to help. Can be lots of things can take them suddenly. A bleed either caused by nitrate poisoning or disease or gastroenteritis can kill in hours. majuka
So sorry to hear about Hermione. Sadly, chickens seem to hide illness quite well and like most small animals they deteriorate so quickly. Very sorry for your loss.

helen1962
So very sorry to hear about Hermione. I had to have my Hilda put down this morning due to peritonitis. It really is very hard when they go. Helen
