I picked up two Turkeys the other day..

 

1 Bourbon red hen called Biscuit (8 weeks old)

1 Lavender stag called Hatter (8 weeks old)

I had a look at some Turkey ladies at my local rare breeds centre recently. I've tried to persuade hubby that we need a couple. He wasn't listening - he was too busy giggling at the stags facial features!

 

 

The girly was cute though

Mum said no boys, id have to have her re-homed, the place we got her from, they culled the boys when they found out.. oh dear.

Im not keeping the chicks, Plum, and im selling fertile turkey eggs at the market.. Im really upset. No, i dont want to take her back, she already eats out my hand and everything, and they kill the males..

Biscuit and Hatter are GORGEOUS! I'm sorry Alice looks like she might be a boy She is beautiful though!

and Hatter is a definate male.

Do male turkeys sing to the sunrise?

Not really.

Cheryl did, she was a hen. Every morning. But that was just her. We asked the breeder as we have never had a male and she said well compared to cockerels the stags are quiet!!

There lovely, its a myth about them being violent, depends on the 'personal' turkey. Cheryl was so lovely, so are my new ones.

I dont think its a clear cut boy, I have girls that dont look massively different to your Alice

 

Wyandotte girls do redden up faster than most breeds

 

I'd expect bigger wattles on a boy, my gold laced boys have been very apparent at 4 weeks

 

A clear pic side view and front on view of the face would help people give you a better idea
