After months of waiting, we're going to pick up our thre new girls on sunday - yippee! Very excited, eglu been scrubbed and moved to a new bit of the lawn, our 11 other girls are a little baffled at what their hoomans are up to :think:

All lovely girls, don't like our cats in the slightest (sadly our cats are used to the other girls so wanted to say hello to their new pals... will be keeping them at a safe distance till the girls are comfortable with them... they all had a nice bath (to rid them of some biting nasties), had their talons checked and a little dusting with powder before they went to investigate their nice new home - all now happily tucked up in bed :D

 

Am I the only one who gets excited about seeing the newbies in the morning?!

Thanks all :D Noodles is the littlest currently, only a week or so between her and hte other two, but even the vorwerk is big in comparison!!

 

Amusingly, hubby came to get them with me and has fallen for a few other breeds... so for the stanrdard-large breeds we now have polish (specifically a polish rooster who had a fantastic mullet, I am informed), orpington and barnevelder added, and for the banties we have pekins and lemon millefleur sablepoots :mrgreen:

 

Sadly am not allowed banties just yet, on the grounds they are about the right size to fit in our cats mouth.... :shock:

yep, had to agree with him on that one!! Although the mogs are so soft over the girls, they chase any other cats away that come within sight of the chooks and generally keep a sangine eye on things when they're out free ranging :D

WE HAVE EGGS!!! *que first-egg-dance round kitchen to amusment of husband*

 

Peggy, the clever little girl, laid her first beautiful brown egg on wednesday :dance::drool: On the roosting bars rather than in the nest, hubby thinks she may have thought it was a good size poo then had the shock of her life... :shock:

Then, not to be outdone, the lovely Wasabi (Bibi as she is now nicknamed) laid her first egg today in the run (leading to hubby having to demonstrate his excellent skills at egg removal using a garden hoe)

Such clever girls, am a very proud Mummy :D Little Noodles is younger than the others so a bit more of a wait for her to start laying, but frankly she's such a pretty little girl that I'm happy just to watch her potter all day long!! All now happily free ranging with the other girls, but most definately still in separate living quarters for now.
